The Library, as part of the Fayette County Library System will also provide free service to all residents of Fayette County and, through Access PA, to all Pennsylvanians holding valid cards from their own libraries.

Please return your materials by their due date to avoid late fines. This will allow other patrons to check out these materials. Materials that are more than 30 days overdue will may be prosecuted under Pennsylvania Code, Title 18, Chapter 67, §6708, “Retention of Library Property.”

Unpaid fines may go to a Collection Agency.

Patrons, please be aware that if you allow others to use your library card, YOU will be held responsible for materials that they check out!

Hardback, paperback, audio books, and music CDs may be checked out for two weeks. Materials may be renewed twice, unless it is already overdue or another patron is waiting for that book on reserve. Overdue fines are 20¢ a day.

Rerference Materials do not circulate! They may be read in the library, and information pertinent to a patron’s interest may be copied.

DVDs and videos may be borrowed for one week with one renewal allowed. Limit is 2 per patron. Overdue fines are $1.00 a day.

Materials that BFPL does not own may be obtained through interlibrary loan from other libraries. Materials circulate for 2 weeks. They may be renewed with consent of the lending library.

There is a book return at BFPL's front door for dropping off books when the library is closed. Please do not place large bags of books in the return, as they get stuck. Fines will apply on late returns.

RENEW OVER THE PHONE! - Call and renew materials over the phone BEFORE they are overdue to avoid overdue charges.

Who may borrow books?

All residents of Fayette County, as well as anyone with an Access PA card from another library, may apply for a free library card. Non-residents are charged an annual fee of $5.00.

What can I borrow?

The library has approximately 17,000 items in our collection, including over 600 DVDs and 20 magazines. We can usually obtain anything that we don't own with a week or two. There is a 10 item limit per patron.

How long can I borrow it for?

Most material circulates for two weeks and is renewable for two additional weeks. DVDs circulate for one week with one renewal allowed.

After that, overdues are $0.20 a day on most materials, $0.25 a day on books borrowed from other libraries, and $1.00 a day on DVDs.

**Our apologies but BFPL does not accept large bills for small fees.**
